    Web based services

    To provide services to the Japanese market, an IT company needs to invest in infrastructure and customer support services. In the long term this means establishing a physical presence in Japan (see insiderizing), however a small business or new exporter might not be able in the early stages to take this step due to the costs involved, and the need to ensure that sufficient resources are allocated to other markets.

    For companies yet to establish themselves in Japan, Frontia is able to provide a range of services including:

    If you cannot, then you have a fair idea of what goes through the mind of a customer whose native language is (in this case) Japanese when they are looking at your site, wanting to purchase your product or service, yet are unable to read your site's content without difficulty.

    When Frontia was first established, assisting education providers with iMarketing in Japan was one of our first niche markets. Although we have diversified, education providers continue to be a key market for Frontia, as the education sector is one of the most internationalized service industries utilizing the internet.

    In addition to helping foreign companies, schools and universities produce quality Japanese language content and support to their sites, we have also assisted Japanese educators. For example, Frontia's Corporate Services division produced the Chinese and English language websites for Aichi University. For the Yamasa Institute, we have produced database backed fastloading websites and supporting e-commerce infrastructure in English, Chinese, Korean, German, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian, Italian, French, Czech, Swedish, and most recently, in Portuguese.

    Multilingual website construction with a focus on usability

    Our designers actively measure usability and are fully experienced in putting into practise the concepts espoused by Jakob Nielson and other usability experts. For your site to fully embrace a foreign language market such as Japan, you need to ensure that the site is designed with close cooperation with your staff, attention to detail - especially regarding customizing extranets/intranets - and full multimedia and programming expertize. Will the secure server be in Japanese? Chinese? Spanish? Should the terms and conditions be in English? In Japanese? Which legal jurisdiction do the purchases made through your website fall into? Should the streaming video content that enriches your site be subtitled? Or dubbed?

    Thinking about the above, it soon becomes clear that it isn't enough to simply build a website with translated content. The key to success with e-commerce and iMarketing is to provide content through websites that were designed with a close focus on customer usability, and done so in very close collaboration with your staff. This isn't as easy as it (might) sound - it requires a lot of experience, expertise and professionalism.

    Almost all of the revenue of Frontia's Corporate Services division is generated from websites, and the majority of our customers are offshore.
